Sidewalks & Walkways in Summertown & Southern Middle Tennessee

A cracked, uneven walkway is a tripping hazard and an eyesore. We build sidewalks that stay flat and solid through decades of Tennessee weather.

Sidewalks and walkways seem simple, but they fail more often than most people expect. The typical failure pattern in Middle Tennessee is a section lifting or sinking where tree roots have grown under the slab, or where the clay soil has expanded and contracted through enough wet-dry cycles to undermine the base. Getting them right from the start means proper excavation depth, adequate base material, and correct joint spacing.

We pour residential walkways at 4 inches thick on a minimum 3-inch compacted gravel base. For longer runs, we install expansion joints at regular intervals and at every junction where the walkway meets another structure — the house foundation, a driveway, steps, or a patio. These joints absorb seasonal movement and prevent the random cracking that happens when concrete has no room to expand and contract.

Width matters for function. A 3-foot walkway is the minimum for comfortable single-file walking. For front walks where two people might walk side by side, or where you need wheelchair or walker access, 4–5 feet is appropriate. We also handle ADA-compliant sidewalk installations for commercial properties, churches, and public-access buildings — correct width, slope, cross-slope, and detectable warning surfaces where required by code.

We can match your walkway to an existing patio or driveway surface — same broom finish direction, same stamp pattern, same color. If you're replacing a damaged section, we remove the old concrete, re-prep the base, and pour a new section that ties in cleanly. We've done everything from simple front-door walks to 200-foot paths connecting buildings on commercial properties.

Our Sidewalks & Walkways Process

Every job follows a proven process to ensure lasting results and protect your property throughout.

1

Layout & Grade Check

We mark the walkway path, check elevation changes, and plan for proper drainage slope and joint placement.

2

Excavation & Base

We dig out the path, remove roots and unstable soil, install compacted gravel, and set straight forms.

3

Pour & Finish

Reinforced concrete is poured, screeded, and finished to your chosen texture. Control and expansion joints are placed at correct intervals.

4

Cleanup & Cure

Forms are stripped, edges are backfilled, and curing compound is applied. The walkway is ready for foot traffic in about 48 hours.

What Customers Say

Real reviews from homeowners and businesses across Southern Middle Tennessee.

Had about 200 feet of sidewalk poured connecting our house to the barn and then out to the road. Property is outside Waynesboro and the ground is uneven. George graded it right, put in proper base material, and the finished sidewalk follows the natural terrain without any awkward steps or lips. Solid work.

Waynesboro

We had George's crew replace our old driveway in Lawrenceburg. The original was 20 years old and had heaved from tree roots. They tore out the old concrete, regraded everything, and poured a new 4-inch reinforced driveway with proper expansion joints. Looks fantastic and the price was very fair for the amount of work involved.

Lawrenceburg

George built a retaining wall along our property line in Culleoka where the yard drops off toward the creek. It's about 40 feet long and 3 feet tall. He included proper drainage behind the wall so water pressure wouldn't push it over. That was two years ago and it hasn't moved an inch despite some heavy rains.
